Trust The Noodle

Yes, we're late with this post but guess what?  Here it is!    Between the Holiday and a mad rush to finish all of the work on the 12 foot by 4 foot restaurant scene, well,  I've been running myself ragged.   That said, let's get this show on the road!

Belinda made quick work of her Hibiscus Window and the finished project is a piece of art.  She's put together a great color scheme by reusing multiple colors inside of one piece of glass.  Note how the thick inner border is a mix of green and red which imitates both the Hibiscus as well as its leaves.  The entire window is then surrounded by a final thin border whose color comes from the only (other) piece of yellow that rests dead center in the red flower.  That's what a great color scheme is all about.

Lisa's Pair of Hummingbirds features a Fractures And Streamers glass set behind some impressive work involving detail with small pieces.  The end result is wonderful and the pattern was her own creation.  I feel the need to point these achievements out because pattern creation is one of the biggest parts of being a stained glass artist.

Kerry made this Hummingbird and Fuchsia Suncatcher and finished it off with some simple yet effective wire work.  I have to say that this came out looking mighty impressive and I hope to see this again in the weeks to come because, as Kerry has proven here, it's so worth it.

It looks as though Cheryl has joined the 'Cross Ladies Brigade' this week.  She's got an incredibly detailed Winged Cross as well as two standard Crosses which make a Holy Trinity of sorts I suppose.

Barbara is on a Flower Pot Ornament spree and has created too many of them for me to post individually.   Here are three of them though.  The Dragonfly and the yellow Butterfly have rods attached so that they can be inserted into any flowerpot while her small blue Butterfly has a clip attached to it's underside allowing it to be clipped to many different locations.

Then there's Sheri's Ornamental Cross which has been brought into clear focus because of her use of bright cathedral colors which are then set off by five clear iridized teardrop inserts.  It certainly makes a statement and is impossible to ignore!

Betty's Beveled Geometric Cross shows that this can be done not only with any combination of colors, but with any choice of color patterns as well.   It's always fun to see just how the next person who makes this will arrange their choice of colors.

Lisa has started this darling (and I hate to use that word but it is what it is) Pumpkin and Black Cat suncatcher.   And when I say Suncatcher I mean a small suncatcher because the cat, from the tip of its tail to the top of his black ears, is only about 2 inches tall!

Is that a UFO?  A sighting of two of them perhaps?   Not at all.  When the final fused pieces are added you will see that these are actually a pair of Eyeballs that will be used as flower pot decorations.   And just wait until you see them!  Susan R's newest project is original for sure.

Linda L is working on a 3D Nativity scene complete with a water spraying Elephant and Candy Corn!  Well, those are separate items for sure but her four piece Nativity Scene should be standing upright when we look at these again next week.

Then there's Linda F whose iniquitous black Pumpkin is gathering a lot of attention.   Now that it has essentially been ground we think that we might add some pupils to the eyes to really make it appear as though he's looking for lost and aimless souls.  Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this!

All of her broken pieces have been replaced and that means that Mary Grace will finish tacking this together and then begin work on the final background pieces to the words 'health', 'wellness', and 'Houma' which will stretch them out to the same size as this central logo section.  Once that's done they will be tacked into place which will then lead to a border being attached.

Let has another Beveled Geometric Cross in the works.  I'm thinking she can make these in her sleep by now!  You know what they say though: "When you find a good thing..."

Talk about being close to completion!   June's Sailboat has been completely soldered but class time ran out before we could touch up the run throughs and add hooks to this.  That ensures that this will easily be completed upon her return and even leave time for her to begin something new.

Next up we have another case of time running too short to  get the job completely finished.   Cindy's Alligator Window is all soldered and just awaiting hooks to finish it off.  It won't be long now!

With the front side of Angie's LSU/Tiger Eyes Window being soldered and only the back left to go, Angie has taken this along home with her so she can come in with it completed (save for hooks).  We'll see what ends up happening but I do know this:  When Angie decides to do something you'd best not get in her way!

Judy's Vegetable Window is ready for a border and then some solder to finish it all off.  The upper right side of this window is far more detailed than the rest of it so the overall look of this window may be misleading.  It's not a beginners project by any means.  However, that being said, Judy did incredible work on this thus proving that she's not a beginner at all.

Jeannette was back with us this week and will be for the next month or so.  When we last saw her she was working on her Initial R Window.  Now we see that her R is ready for a border and that she's been busy making a Beveled Geometric Cross and two Grinch Hands as well.   There are no idle hands here, that's for sure.

Betty's Octagonal Irises and Dragonfly got its intricate Octagon border cut, ground and attached as well as some channel.   There's a good chance that she'll have this soldered when she comes back into class because, let's face it-- we're talking about Betty here!

Shelley's Peacock is looking kinda wonderful even though it hasn't been ground yet.  You can see all the colors it will entail and it's looking to me like this will be another feather in Shelley's stained glass cap when she completes it.

Steve is moving along at a steady and efficient speed with his Yard Art Piece.  Things are filling in nicely and the overall effect is readily apparent.  It certainly won't be long now.

Betty is also working on an Ornamental Cross of her own but in this instance she's replaced color with assorted clear textures.   And it's looking soooo very good!

Sheri is taking her time and because of that her lettering is perfectly legible. I must say that I'm very impressed with how this is turning out.  By not rushing and just sticking to her guns she's managing to create an impressive piece of stained glass signage
