She Wants A Cream Soda And A Foot Long

Susan D has finished the first of a number of Beveled Snowflakes that she's been working on while she also works on her Peacock Window.  These Snowflakes look deceptively simple but they are deceitfully not.   They require painstaking perfection with complete attention to detail or they become lopsided due to either uneven glass positioning or (most likely) uncontrollable mounds of solder.   What you see below is the perfect effect that you should strive for and which Susan achieved.

Linda F's pair of Frosty the Snowmen panels have been completed with time to spare for Christmas.  Save for the color variation in the scarves and hat ribbons you'd be hard pressed to tell one from the other which is a huge (and well deserved) compliment when it comes to glass work.

Steve's first panel for his Louisiana Lady Scene has been completed and he's even gone the extra distance by coloring the lead with both black and copper patina (which sadly never shows in a photo).  Next week he'll begin a second panel in this large six piece window.

Since we're a bit sparse on completed projects this week I'm posting the Indigo Bunting that I made for a customer who always orders a window just before Christmas.  It's probably the only stained glass version of an Indigo Bunting that you'll ever see because I could find neither hide nor tail feather of one of one of these made in glass on all of the internet!

MiMi is currently at work on a number of Humming Bird Suncatchers and these three are just about completed.   I don't really know for sure but I believe that the only thing left to go on these is for them to get some solder on their back sides which means that these will be out the door and into a window very shortly.

Then we have Mr. Bingle who is is getting ready to fly through the sky once more here in our shop compliments of Mary Grace.  Her suncatcher has all of its pieces cut out already and is also currently being ground.  This could very well be finished when she returns!

Sheri's got a Three Wise Men Panel all completely cut out and ground already and she's even begun foiling it as well.  Since she moves quickly I have little doubt that this will be a completed window when she comes back in.

Bee is flying through the cutting portion of her Front Door Geometric Window.  This week she picked out her color scheme as well as cut all of the glass for everything but the three layered border system.  Once she has this ground, wrapped and tacked together she will handle the borders the same way that she handled the center of this window-- quickly and efficiently.

Susan D has only a handful of background pieces left to grind before she can solder and get the finishing channel added to her large Peacock Window.  I don't recall if I mentioned this before but this is a mirror image to a window that she made a few years back and she's managed to match things wonderfully throughout both windows which is great because they will hang as 'bookend' pieces in the same room.

It looks like Susan R will be completing at least one of her Christmas Ornaments next week, and perhaps even two of them.  I know that one is almost completely wrapped but I'm unsure about the second Ornament that is residing underneath the one you see here.  Come back next week to find out exactly where Susan R stands on her lovely pair of ornaments!

Melissa is so close to having her Gingerbread Man and House completely ground that there is no doubt that this will be completed in time for Christmas.  She is moving along quickly and you can already see just how cute the finished product will be!

Lisa got the majority of the steer head section of her State Of Texas Window cut out and that means that about three quarters of this Window has been cut and ground.  I have a sneaking suspicion that it won't be long now until this is behind her and another project shows up in front of her on the work table.

As you can see Cindy's newest decorative Bowl is building up higher and higher with each passing week.   If you enlarge this picture you can easily see how she fits her new random pieces with the row beneath it and then wraps and tacks them into position.

Shelley's Cat Window got it's border cut, ground, wrapped and tacked into place and then she got the front of her window completely soldered as well.   After that she then flipped it over and now has the head of the cat soldered which means that when she comes back in this will easily be completed with plenty of time to spare.

Kerry is making a Frosty The Snowman of his own and managed to get it all cut out and mostly ground in just one class.  This is another project that will be finished before you can say "Jack Frost"!

Last but not least we see that Let managed to get the two borders cut for her Crab Window.  She's still wrapping the pieces for the final border but the first thin accent colored border has already been tacked into place which means that we all know what Let will be doing while she's at home this week. :-)

As always, with warm regards,

Paul
