Sheri's pair of Sunflowers is stunning. She went with mixed colors for the flower petals which always sets a sunflower off perfectly. I have to say that Sheri's work has really reached new heights and this original design proves it.
Ann's Mother Mary utilizes youghiogheny glass which can be VERY difficult to cut until you realize that the pressure that you apply to your glass cutter is so very important in getting your score lines to break correctly. As always with youghiogheny glass, a gentle pressure will yield you the best results. Now that Ann has unleashed this pattern to the world, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of these.
Annette saw someone else (Susan D) make this Cardinal on a Branch and wanted to make it completely out of stained glass. The original had a lead cast branch which we simply traced and then cut out of brown glass. Now it's hanging from a chain in Annette's window. Lovely!
Pumpkins, pumpkins, come get your pumpkins! Cindy made three assorted Pumpkins this week each featuring a very different color scheme. That's what we call an artist's eye and you can see how wonderful a thing that is to have.
Susan D has 3D in her blood. This week she created this marvelous Alligator On a Log that's impressive to look at here in picture form but which reaches a whole new level of 'coolness' when you see it in person!
Judy needed a box done ASAP and by the end of the night she had completed her Double Bordered Picture Box. We have two views of it below, one with the lid closed and the second with the lid slightly raised. Say what you want but these stained glass boxes make wonderful gifts.
Give Peace a chance! Sheri's tapping into the 60's and early 70's with her right and left handed Peace Signs. It's minimal art with a maximum message.
Betty walked out the door with her Hummingbird Panel under her wing so to say. This panel certainly went quick and easy for her. She even added a lead drop eyeball for good measure which you can clearly see in the picture below.
Let finished this stunning Geometric Window and also came close to finishing another window as well which we'll see just a little bit later on in this post.
Steve designed three different Christmas Tree Ornaments complete with curlycue hangers. These were specifically made to be hung on a Christmas Tree rather than a window so they aren't the largest of suncatchers. Steve has three more of these in the works but when I took a picture of them the clear glass on top of the white pattern paper didn't show up at all. Rest assured that you'll see exactly what those like like next week when Steve returns.
Susan D has another Dragonfly Spoon completed. She utilizes the entire spoon in hers and they look great!
Moving along to our unfinished projects we start by taking a look at Susan R's latest project. This Cross and Rose pattern has always been a favorite of mine and it certainly looks as though Susan's version will also put a smile on my face. She's gotten along incredibly far with just one class of work in on it and I'm thinking that this could very well have some foil on it by the time it gets its picture taken again.
Our other Susan also worked on her Starburst Suncatcher and has it all ground, wrapped and tacked together. As I always say, geometric designs are far more difficult than most people think and Susan is dealing with very thin pieces that the slightest bit of over-grind would mess up. But as you can see she handled it perfectly. It's all tacked together and just needs a little bit of solder to finish it off now.
Cindy began working on one of her favorite pieces-- Birds On A Wire. Me, I think she's a glutton for punishment! I have to say that I've never actually made one of these myself but I know that just the thought of grinding out all of those tiny little eyes gives me the heebie-jeebies!
Mary Grace was back this week and she's got all of the glass attached on her second and last Peacock Window. She even managed to fill in the two corner pieces that square off the final form of this design. That means that she'll be able to sit back and solder when we see her again next week.
Martha's Grinch Window is all tacked together and in need of a border. I guess that will be handled when she comes back in. I had no clue that she'd gotten this far along on Mr Grinch. In fact, I believe this side is already soldered as well. The end is near and soon Martha will be done with Mr Grinch.
When I helped carry Betty's glass and tools out to her car she showed me what she'd been working on at home. That's six Grinch hands all cut out and looking WONDERFUL before they've even touched a grinder! This is VERY impressive work!
Let was so very close to completing this window that it was a shame that she had to wait another week to complete it. All she needs to do is touch up some of the soldering and then she can wash it, color it, wax it and hang it!
And this is another window that ALMOST made it out the door this week. I hate to sound like a broken record but all Kerry needs is to touch up some soldering on this and then he can take it home for good. There's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you finish a commissioned piece, and Kerry is about to experience that.
Lisa is in the process of making a lighted Gift Box and once she foils the pieces that make up the top she'll cut out the bow and assemble everything to make the perfect Christmas decoration. When this is finished she'll place a small string of Christmas lights inside of it to create a beautiful table piece.
With two thirds of her Hera Flag completed Shawn is on a roll! The only thing left to g on this is the bottom portion of the feather and then she'll be able to add a border and then solder this all together.
Melissa has the rear panel of her multicolored Bird House ground and can't understand why it took her so long to grind something that only contains straight cuts. And the answer to that is because it's ALL straight cuts. People often think that straight lines are easy to work with but in reality, well it's not a day on the beach trying to keep everything straight while grinding away glass for a perfect fit.
June has most of her Sewing machine wrapped in copper foil and took this along home with her to complete the wrapping process over the week before she comes back in. The background glass has a few wild cuts in it but I have no doubt that we'll see it all get cut out when June returns.
Now that MiMi's repair window has been tacked together MiMi is resting a little more comfortably. With the gaps filled in with solder this doesn't look nearly as bad as it did before she tacked it all together.
Forgive the picture. I had no clue that the wire fencing's shadow would be that prominent on Lisa's dozen of Christmas Ornaments. She wasn't even going to let me take a picture of them but when I saw them in her car I knew I had to share with you all of the work that Lisa accomplished at home throughout the week. Impressive indeed!
With all six of her Reindeer Eyeballs cut into place Linda L was able to re-tack the faces together and then begin the soldering process. There are now essentially completed so it won't be long until we see Linda working on three Christmas trees!
And in the end we look at two more Cardinals which will feature wire work, and two more Silverware Spoon Dragonflies that Betty worked on. They are already tacked together which means that Betty will have these completed before you know it.
And that's it for this week. We're running late here because of a rush order that I have to get done ASAP and that means that the blogs may get out the door a little later on in the week than usual. At least until I get caught up on my own work in the shop.
