A Well Hung Duck

Linda F knocked out her FGD Panel as quickly as possible by putting it together as easy as 1, 2, 3!  I love her background glass and her attention to detail because letters are no fun and VERY easy to screw up.

Kandise finished her Troll Duck and has becoming the reigning Queen of Ducks in her class (as well as all of the other classes) as she manages to knock out one of these per week! She's already well under way on her next Duck which we'll see a little further down in this post.

Betty's Butterflies took a back seat  leaving her  with time to put this beautiful Bevel and Iridised Glass Snowflake together which she will be hanging from a Christmas Tree later this year.   These are usually popular around Christmas and who knows-- Betty may have just started something here!

Tracey has made MAJOR headway on her Santa Face Window which has now been completely ground.    She's going to tack this together after which she'll cut the background glass since this will allow her to grind the circular background more precisely.   This will certainly be completed in time for Christmas with  plenty of time to spare.

Well look at this. Kandise has already got her next Duck well underway. This is a Coca-Cola Duck and he sports a bottle cap for a hat!

Bee cut out all of the leaves for her three dimensional Flower Pot and has each of them ground. Next up she'll cut each leaf into its respective pieces one leaf at a time and actually finish tacking the leaf together before moving to the next one. She'll do this to avoid the possibility of having the pieces getting mixed up (it happens). Trying to reassemble windows with similar pieces throughout can really kill the desire to finish it!

Paula has all but the few background pieces to her Tulip Window cut out with a lot of the pieces being ground as well. There isn't much left to go on this which proves that Paula is moving through this project at a most impressive speed. It won't be long now before we see this hanging up with light behind it.

Elaine has tacked together her Emme Window and worked on the first of the two borders that will surround it.   I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be ready to be soldered before Elaine leaves her next class with us.

Susan D appears to have all of her Pelican and Fish ground which means that she's going to begin foiling everything.   Once that's done she'll solder the window without the fish and then attach the fish to the pelican's mouth with a small piece of chain so that it can actually dangle freely and independently from the background.

Let's Art Nouveau Window just needs its final border attached and then she'll be soldering away on it.   She's lifted it off of the table and I have to say that you WILL be impressed when you see this lit up next week when I suspect it will be completed.

Catherine tacked together the center thee flowers of her window and then carefully positioned a new piece of baroque glass into the empty spot that the chipped piece of glass resided in. Now that it's cut and tacked you'd never be able to pick out which piece was replaced. Once that was done she picked out the her inner border and when she returns she'll have a second (final) border on this.

Martha resumed work on finishing off the window that a friend had given her to 'complete'.   With the double borders attached Martha will easily finish soldering this up when she comes back in.

Jan was back in and returned to work on her Three Dogs Panel which has now been completely soldered. Next week she'll add some channel to this and then hang it up so that she can move along to a new project.

Cheryl has all but four pieces ground on her Mardi Gras Pelican Window. She would have had everything ground but she had left the flat backed beads that she's using to accent the crown of her bird. Without having the beads we don't know what size the holes should be in the glass that surrounds them. That just means that she'll get this assembled along with a border or two when she comes back in next week.

MiMi's Celtic Cross now has pieces ground at the top section of the window and it's all fitting perfectly.  MiMi places pins on all sides of her  ground pieces which provides a space for the foil that will also surround each piece.   This prevents anything from growing which would twist the position of the glass pieces in uneven ways.  An ounce of prevention goes a long way here.

Sheri's Art Nouveau Window is out of the cutting phase and all ready to be ground.  She's currently unsure if she will use a single border on this or a double border but this is honestly best decided once the subject of the window has been ground, foiled and tacked together.

Mary Grace got the borders cut out for another pair of her Mardi Gras Picture Frames. This first one has even been tacked together. Once all the Frame fronts have been tacked together she'll solder them one at a time after which she'll add the three pieces of glass that form the stand that allows this to rest on a table.

Betty had an issue with the wire accents that she made for her Silverware Butterflies so, as you already know, she sort of put them on the back burner this week.

Barbara had a unique class with us as she decided to grab as many pecans as she could from the tree outside while the getting is good!

And them's the nuts!
