If I Wanted to Suffer I'd Stay Home

Susan D made this incredibly detailed , yet small, Starburst Suncatcher complete with a jewel in the center of it. The attention to detail required for a piece this small stops a lot of people from making it.   All of Susan's points match together wonderfully and the end result is a beautiful and  perfectly symmetrical Suncatcher. Stunning work indeed.

Steve's Wire Frame Wineglass is light and effervescent.  There's even a natural hanging spot in the upper left corner of the glass where a hook attached nice and securely while allowing the suncatcher to hang at a nice angle.

Let has managed to knock out another finished project with this Stylized Double Flower.  She's drawing out her own patterns at home now and this is the first that she's done.  What can I say other than: As always, Let impresses.

Kerry's latest Umbrella Lady is another stunning example of perfect colors.  At first he was going to color the border the same color as the dress but when we pulled this gorgeous sheet of blue waterglass out of the rack Kerry knew that he would never find a better fit.

Linda L finished her three Reindeer Panels which means that she only has three more panels left to make before she's able to fill up the twelve openings in her three Lanterns.  That sounds like a lot of math but it all makes perfect sense when you realize that each of her three lanterns has four sides that need panels and that she's already completed  9 of those panels.

Lisa's been busy spinning her wheels by working on another Bicycle Gear piece.  This 'Gear Art' is highly unique and Lisa has managed to apply foil to the inside openings of the gears with no problem at all.

Betty is a Dragonfly Spoon expert and has made two more of them this week.  She also put the finishing touches on two Wire Work Cardinals as well as the first Grinch Hand of the season.   Remember, he who hesitates doesn't get his Christmas suncatchers done in time for Christmas!

Lisa also completed 6 of these Clear Textured Christmas Tree Ornaments along with her Bicycle Gear piece.   I've  heard from a reliable source that Lisa has been been burning the candle at both ends to get a ton of stained glass items completed before a show she's doing next week.  And guess what?  There's even more of her work to look at a little later on in this post.

Susan D also made this incredible three dimensional 'Peacock Feather in a Vase' while she was at home over the week.  And as if that weren't enough she also finished two more Geometric Starbursts featuring a bevel center as well!

After completing his Umbrella Lady Kerry moved on over to a Circular Christmas Poinsettia Window.  By the time class ended he had the flower all cut out save for the center spot where the yellow beads will fit into in the center of the flowers.  If all goes well you'll most likely go crazy when you see the background glass that he's picked for this project.  I just hope that it's in stock because it's a seasonal glass and somewhat hard to come by.

Judy began this Amish Girl Window by tracing out the pattern as soon as she walked in the door.   Three hours later she had the entire window cut and ground.   She moves quickly through her projects and with each one that she completes she seems to gain more and more grinding skills.  I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be finished soon because Judy works quickly and efficiently.

Susan R's Cross and Rose Suncatcher was completely ground this week which allowed her to begin foiling all of her pieces.   It won't be long before Susan finishes this and moves along to another wonderful project.  This one has always been a favorite of mine.

Barbara has resumed work on her Hibiscus Window and spent her class grinding away at the grinder.   This has always been a stunning window design and Barbara's version of it will do NOTHING to tarnish its reputation.  I just love that deep, rich red glass

Here's a look at the final three panels that make up Linda L's Lanterns.   The common connection (other than Christmas) between  each panel is the way each panel is a bit too small to contain each image.   It's a design choice that I use often in my own work and you can see that it works great on this Christmas tree.

Sheri is working on a Geometric Panel of her own and in just one class she managed to get 90% of it assembled.  There's just a clear, textured second border left to go on this and then she'll be able to finish it up.

As I said, Lisa's been burning the candle at both ends which is how she managed to get these three Christmas Presents almost completed this week as well as her other projects.   All these need are some glass bows and ribbons on the top and then Lisa will wash and wax them.  Once that's done she'll put a small strand of Christmas lights inside each present which will turn them into the ultimate Table Top Christmas Decoration.

Ann has begun working on a Mary and Child Suncatcher and has made great strides into it quickly.   It's nice to see all of these Christmas projects started so soon.  As I implied before, it means that there will be little rushing when December gets here.

Melissa's Birdhouse now has its front and back walls cut, ground, wrapped and tacked together.   The roof for this  will be simple enough  and the two remaining smaller side walls shouldn't  take her more than a class to cut out.  Those homeless birds in her parents back yard are soon going to be in for a treat!

June's Sewing Machine Window is another project that is quickly approaching its completed state.  After she got all of her background glass cut out she proceeded to grind and wrap almost of it.   It looks like she only has about four pieces left to foil before she can tack this together and work on a border.

Cindy's got three more tiny birds cut out and ground for her Birds On A Wire project and she's utilizing a lot of small scraps of glass that has been cluttering up her workshop.  This is a great project to make when your shop is filling up with pieces of glass that are too small to use for a window but which are also too big to simply throw away.   Using all that glass in this project makes for a VERY colorful piece.

With all of her glass tacked together MiMi has begun the actual soldering process of her repair.  There were some gaps (but none of them were caused by MiMi)  but now that the window has some solder on it the gaps aren't nearly as noticeable.  This is going to tun out just fine.

Cheryl's Trio of Cardinals Window has some definition now that she's got the majority of it ground and fitting together nicely.    I have a sneaking suspicion that she'll be wrapping some of these pieces when she manages to find the time to come back in.  Cheryl is a traveler and she's going to be on the road for a while so it will take some time before she comes back in to work on this some more.

Mary's got her Angel Wing Heart all ground and has even begun wrapping her pieces.  I have to say that Mary did an incredible job grinding out  the red heart to allow the points of the wing feathers to cut into the red heart-- using that small grinding wheel is NEVER easy!

And here at the end we look at  Martha's Grinch Window which has all of its glass cut and ground.   Next up she'll wrap the final clear border pieces and then begin  soldering this lovable bad boy!

And that's all there is for this week.
