Melissa's Winged Cross Window looks stunning indeed. From the iridised wing feathers all the way to the multi-hued yellow border this just turned out perfectly. Of course Melissa's hard work has to be complimented just as much because if she would have rushed it, it certainly wouldn't look this impressive!
All things in time. Roxane's Nativity Scene Window has been completed and it really is a window that she can be proud of. It's a good three feet wide and although Hurricane Ida slowed her down it couldn't stop Roxane from completeing what she'd started. A job VERY well done!
Bea's Round Fleur De Lis features a black stylized FDL set inside a striking yellow background which is in turn surrounded by a black border. Elegant, charming, strikingly regal, the list of adjectives can go on and on. Oh, and the workmanship is top notch also. Bea has lost none of her stained glass talents during her 'down time'.
Yellow seems to be the color of the week because Judy's Coffee Pot and Coffee Cup Window looks spectacular framed within its yellow border. Judy worked quickly and efficiently on this and the picture easily says a thousand words (to that effect).
Susan D added some hidden wire reinforcements to her latest Dragonfly and she decided to do that after she repaired an earlier dragonfly that she had made after it got knocked to and fro by the yard man. Do you see any wires here because I don't. That's a testament to Susan's skills at making efficient suncatchers that will stand the test of time (and careless yard workers).
Betty's latest Dove Cross is even better than the ones she's made before. Practice not only makes perfect-- it also allows you to work quicker because of the level of comfort that you feel while your are redoing steps that you've done before.
Betty also managed to finish a large Butterfly Lawn Ornament done in teal and turquoise. This one is 3D and features angled wings which are a requirement for this design if you don't want it to immediately fall apart!
Lara has begun work on a lovely looking multi-colored flower which she now has all cut out. She's going to be altering the pattern a bit and splitting another flower petal so that we have a more symmetrical way to hang this without having a chain running across the front or back of the project.
Angie's Coca Cola Window is already cut, ground, wrapped and tacked. Script letter are no fun and even though these are fairly large she still flew through these faster than I would have ever imagined!
I love this sky. When you work outside the box you end up with windows that immediately demand attention and Lisa's Sunflower does just that. When it comes to skies, as long as the color isn't overly vibrant you really can't go wrong as evident here.
With all but two pieces ground and fitted together, June is ready to begin foiling her pieces. We really thought that we had those top left pieces of sky cut out already but that will easily be handled when June comes back in.
Linda L pulled the wool over my eyes by making not one but two Rain Gage Butterflies. I'm suspecting that at least one of these will be finished when she comes back in. In fact, perhaps both of them will be because Linda is always full of surprises...
With all of her stripes essentially straightened, there are only a few uneven matches left along the edges which will be covered by channel which means that Susan R's USA Lawn Ornament is more than ready for solder!
Sheri's Pelican is taking shape and I think that the best thing to do next is to tack the bird together and then fill in the sun behind it. Why? It will be easier to grind the sun if all of those feathers are one large stationary piece rather than countless shifting pieces that are hard to line up.
Steve has veered off of his spinning hearts this week and is currently making a large Moon Lawn Ornament which will be fixed into a rectangular copper framework (that he created). I 'm starting to think that he just loves working with copper pipe and torches!
MiMi's has finished creating her Solar System and is now foiling all of her planets. I strongly believe that before she has 6 days into this project she will be resting! When you look at those beautiful planets you understand immediately that she chose each section of the glass for maximum effect.
Kerry's Cabin has stairs, bushes, and a bird all fitting in place perfectly. That means that there's only grass, water and sky left to go on this which will be the easiest pieces to cut in this entire window. It won't be long now.
Martha only needs to cut out her background glass and then she can begin grinding her oval Hummingbird and Iris Window. However, if she wants she could easily skip the background and grind and wrap what she already has since, once this is tacked together, it will be strong enough to be lifted up and placed on top of the sheet of glass that she chooses for her background. That will be her decision to make when she comes in again next week.
Consider this to be completed! Let's Butterfly Window only needs to be soldered on its back side and I'm 99.44 percent sure that she'll do that soldering while she's at home. Even if she doesn't solder it at home she'll have plenty of time to do that when she comes back to class.
It's been a labor or love but Barbara H has all of the glass cut out in her Rooster Window. She's taken it along home with her so she can hopefully get some soldering done over the week which means that this may be completed even quicker that I ever thought! This really is some great work.
Speaking of having all of your glass cut-- Cindy only needs a border on her Sunflower window now because her background is all cut and ground! The end is near...
And last but not least we look at the Dove Cross that Let is also working on. Like her Butterfly Window I have no doubt that this will be ready for its final photograph when Let brings this back in.
It's a little rainy out there today and there's a cool breeze coming off the bayou, but oops, it's time for The Young and the Restless!
