Jan may have had a minor setback last week when she realized that her Humming bird and Flower panel had a broken border piece but this week we were luckily able to turn up some of the purple water glass that was needed to fix the break. So with that repair taken care of Jan was able to walk away with her beautiful Humming Bird panel completely intact.
Angie's New Orleans Window was completed this week and doesn't it look wonderful! Don't say 'no', say New Orleans! This is the second time she's made this design and I must say that she certainly flew through this iteration of it.
Let turned the standard Butterfly Lawn Ornament into a window and the end result is wonderful. Purple wings offset within a textured clear background glass make this sparkle wonderfully when it has light behind it (as it does here). Let's soldering is getting better and better with every window and this project really highlights her skills there.
Annette started and finished an Alligator Suncatcher that she's decided to name Crock. Look closely and you'll even see that he even has tiny little lead teeth. How was that done? Well, it's an ancient Chinese secret! Next week Annette plans on beginning a VERY large project because she wants to make something to really challenge herself. I can't wait to reveal to you exactly what it is but you're going to have to wait until next week for that.
Linda L's trio of Butterfly Rain Gauges are perfection! The top Blue/green one actually has the actual glass gauge in place but it just didn't photograph very well. Rest assured that these are wonderful and mark my words when I tell you that we will be seeing more of these in the weeks to come-- Even Linda was impressed with how nice they were once they were completed.
Let also made a blue on blue version of the Dove Cross. It just goes to show you two things: 1) That you really can't lose with this pattern, and 2) That Let can whip out suncatchers faster than the speed of light!
Melissa has begun work on a new project and this time around it's for her and not someone else. Her office has a beach theme and she has the perfect place in it for a few Sea Shell Suncatchers (and a Sea Turtle as well). She's already incredibly far into the creation process here so it won't take her long at all to complete these.
Judy is making a Vegetable Window for a friend who regularly supplies her with vegetables from her garden. It's a perfect Thank-You window and I doubt that it will take Judy long at all to complete. I think that she agrees with me when I say that picking colors is the hardest part of the process.
Cindy got her border attached to her Sunflower Window and the front side is just about completely soldered. It's time for her to start thinking about what she wants to make next since I doubt that finishing this will take up her entire class next week!
Sheri 's Pelican is just about ready to be foiled and tacked together. Again, once it's tacked she will add the sun behind it which will be the main support of the wings of this large bird.
Roxanne has begun working on an Address Window and in just one class she got as the pattern traced out and the numbers as well as the corner accent pieces cut out of glass. She also traced her pattern pieces onto her background glass and will begin cutting those out when she walks back in the door.
Susan D is a Flower Angel machine and this week she worked on 5 different colored varieties of this popular pattern. Two of then have already been ground already and are ready to be foiled while the remaining angels will get to that point before you know it.
Ann moves quickly when she's working at a grinder and the fact that she got all of her Traditional Cross ground and even managed to begin wrapping those pieces proves that she's a stained glass master. I have no doubt that this will be tacked together and have its thin accent border attached when you see it again.
Mary Grace has all of her Logo cut out out and ground which means that foiling will be next on her agenda. It's all coming together and with just border pieces remaining to be cut she should be able to breath easier since the hard parts of this project are now finished with.
Angie's Coca-Cola Window got solder applied to the front side and then it gained its final green border and some channel. This window should very well be rolling out the door for its last time next week.
Barbara's Rooster just needs it's soldering to be touched up and a channel added to it and then
she'll be able to wash this, color it and call it complete. This is
probably the most complex window that she's ever made and I'm pleased to
tell you that all along the way she's never let the number (or the small size of
the pieces) intimidate her.
June filled in her sail boat's sky with an extra cloud which actually balances out this window nicely. Once that was done she began wrapping all of her pieces in copper foil. She's at about the halfway point and should complete the wrapping process when she returns.
MiMi's soldered the front side of her solar system leaving only the back side to go. Next week she'll hang it and people will start moving in! Did you notice that Earth has its Moon represented? I love this!
There are a lot of tiny pieces in this Sunflower but Lisa is attacking them one at a time and taking her time as well. I realize that it may sound oxymoronic but because she isn't rushing this is actually moving along quickly! Slow and steady always wins the race.
Susan R is on the home stretch when it comes to working on her USA Lawn
Ornament. She has the channel around it (those angles were sure fun to
miter together) and the front side has been soldered leaving only the
back side to go. This will be surely finished and another project
started when Susan comes back in.
Kerry's Cabin in the Bayou is really shaping up quickly now. He's grinding the last few background pieces and before you know it this will be a completed scene.
Steve has the bottom portion of his newest Lawn Ornament cut and ready to be ground. This will mount on the bottom of the piece you saw him working on last week.
Lastly we see that Bee has begun working on a nice sized Hibiscus Window. Her pattern has been traced out and she's picked the glass for the actual flower itself which she'll begin cutting upon her return. This pattern consists of numerous background and border layers so she'll have many choices to make once the flower has been cut.
Somehow I forgot to take a picture of Helen's work this week (and numerous other people's as well). I was able to scrounge together some of the missing photos but I guess you'll see Helen's completed project in our next post.
To infinity and beyond!
Paul
